How Hypocrisy And White Lies In The Online Space Is Actually HELPING Authentic People

I have a bee in my bonnet at the moment about this 'GAME' that people play in the online space.

It's the game where people tell white lies about what success they've had, or who they know in order to position themselves as experts in their industry.

‘Everyone does it’, they’ll tell you. ‘There’s nothing inauthentic about it. There are ways to do it so that you can stay in integrity.’

I want to share with you what’s ACTUALLY beneath this concept and how YOU can stand out WITHOUT having to stoop to what I call ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ marketing.

It feels icky to do it. It feels inauthentic. And honestly, it takes more work to try to convince yourself that you’re not fabricating things, than it does to actually just be authentic.

When you have to say things to yourself like, ‘Well it IS true that I doubled my income in a week – even though last month’s income was $100 and this week I made $200 – it’s still true, you’re having to convince yourself that you’re not being totally honest.

Now I don’t know about you, but I NEVER feel comfortable telling half-truths. EVER.

I’ve actually tried it but because it goes against my values, it failed.

And when I decided that I was going to pay attention to the energetic alignment of my posts – and not try be something I’m not – I got way more engagement, and way more people contacting me to work with me.

PEOPLE CAN READ ENERGY – WHETHER THEY KNOW IT OR NOT

And here’s something REALLY INTERESTING to pay attention to. People can actually FEEL the energy underneath your posts.

I can feel the energy. When I read someone’s post on Facebook, I can pick up straight away if there’s a ‘sales’ intent – even if they don’t mention it.

I can pick up how they’ve ‘manipulated or sugar-coated’ a story to use psychological tactics to get people to believe in their ‘authority’.

I can even sense when their event/webinar/online course is a flop and they’re trying to pull out all the stops (ie take massive action) to get people to sign up.

And if I’m able to pick up the energetic undertones, then thousands and thousands of others out there can.

You may have noticed this yourself – something’s off about the post. Something just doesn’t feel right and you can’t put your finger on it.

And because it doesn’t feel right, you don’t buy from that person.

Everybody can read energy, whether they’re aware of it or not.

We’re energy first and physical second, after all.

Everybody is intuitive and can get a sense about whether someone is genuine or not.

And the new energies that we’re rapidly moving into on planet Earth are based in energetic principles, one of them being telepathy, so we are going to HAVE TO clean up our act when it comes to how we’re showing up out there when we want to attract the right people to our business.

And this is WHY so many of us can’t buy into the hypocrisy.

THE ACTUAL TRUTH ABOUT THIS ‘SMOKE & MIRRORS’ MARKETING

FIRST, here’s my take on what’s ACTUALLY going on in this outdated paradigm.

There are 3 beliefs I see people buying into that fuel the false premise of needing to position yourself as an authority in order to get people to buy from you:

  1. THERE’S A BELIEF THAT YOU HAVE TO CONVINCE PEOPLE OF YOUR WORTH OR VALUE (because you actually don’t believe it yourself)
  2. THERE’S A BELIEF THAT OTHERS ARE BETTER THAN YOU, AND THAT YOU HAVE TO COMPETE WITH WHO AND WHAT THEY KNOW IN ORDER FOR PEOPLE TO WANT TO WORK WITH YOU (you base your worth on measuring yourself against others)
  3. THERE’S A BELIEF THAT PEOPLE NEED ‘PROOF’ AS TO WHO YOU ARE BY BEING FED IMAGES AND STORIES THAT PROVIDE EVIDENCE THAT YOU’RE SOMEONE TO WATCH (because ‘that’s just how people are; that’s the psychology of marketing’)

All these beliefs are based in a paradigm that vibrates in LACK – that there’s not enough to go around, that YOU don’t have enough worth for people to be able to make a genuine connection with you and want to work with you.

Aaaaand, what if you’re someone who’s not showy by nature? How do you possibly keep up with the game?

What if you’re someone who’s introverted and doesn’t necessarily like to get out your camera in order to snap pics with people they’ve met (or, you’re like me and you’re actually so busy absorbing the experience that you don’t THINK to get photos)?

What if you’re someone who values honesty and deep authenticity and just cannot compromise on those values in order to ‘prostitute’ yourself out there to get clients?

Does that mean you’re NEVER going to succeed?

When I had my email and content marketing consultancy 3 years ago, I had clients who were coaches at 6-figure level who got there without using these tactics:

Without touting themselves as knowing anyone famous or needing to make up stories about who they know;

Without boasting about their income levels. In fact, one of them only started to talk about how they grew their business when they reached 7 figures!

Now that’s what I call authentic. No smoke and mirrors. No white lies. No trying to fool themselves in order to keep up the game.

Hear this: Russ Ruffino and his company ‘Clients on Demand’ surveyed 11,920 coaches between 2012 and 2017.

Do you know what they discovered? 76% of coaches are earning less than $5k a month.

Isn’t that interesting? And yet it seems that a way higher percentage out there are making it big, doesn’t it?

Wow.

So what set apart the successful ones I used to copywrite for?

Just plain old…CAN YOU GUESS WHAT?

SELF BELIEF.

BELIEF IN THEIR ABILITY TO DELIVER RESULTS.

BELIEF IN THE TRANSFORMATION THEY BRING TO THEIR CLIENTS.

A DEEP ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THEIR OWN VALUE AND WORTH.

HOW YOU GET TO STAND OUT AMONGST THE NOISE

It’s those things I just mentioned above.

EVERYTHING IS AN INSIDE JOB.

Let me repeat that:

EVERYTHING

IS

AN

INSIDE

JOB.

You are the powerful creator of your reality, and YOU have the ability to command how your life and business unfolds by doing the ENERGETIC WORK.

By that I mean, paying attention to the stories you tell about yourself.

What stories do you have about what you do?

Do you say that you don’t think you can help others to get the results they want? Do you say that other people are doing a way better job than you? Do you say that you’re not qualified to speak to what it is you’re passionate about?

PAY ATTENTION TO THE STORIES YOU TELL THAT KEEP YOU FROM GETTING OUT THERE.

If you’re telling any of these stories above, YOU ARE PLUGGED INTO THE OLD PARADIGM and you will find it very hard to take enough action to get your people to resonate with you.

ESPECIALLY if you are wired to lead in the new paradigm and create a way of building a business that means you’re tuned into your knowing, tuned into your clients, and being totally TRUE TO YOURSELF.

So here’s the inner work you need to line up with:

Do you KNOW that your work is powerful and that you can help people change their lives?

Do you KNOW that you have something unique that no-one else has?

Do you KNOW that your clients are predestined to work with you and that they WILL find you if you have your SELF BELIEF in check?

If you don’t then you need to explore where you are limiting yourself, and this is where I come in (or any other mentor or coach who is a pro at helping people to identify their limiting stories and clear them out).

The only solution to being able to be SEEN by your potential clients is to be able to show up with CLEAN energy of self-belief;

An absolute KNOWING that you are worth every cent they will give you, that you are amazing at what you do, that you are connected to your genius and you are able to access that on demand to change people’s lives; that you are UNPLUGGED from the Ego-based paradigm that is no longer sustainable for you.

So, I specialise in mirror work. Everything is our mirror, and what’s happening in your outside world – be it your relationships, business, partner, money issues, children’s behaviour – is showing you exactly what’s going on in your inner world.

And when you change what’s going on in your inner world, you start to see more clients come in, more confidence show up, better relationships and easier parenting unfold.

You don’t need to work so hard to get yourself out there because it actually flows in accordance with Who You Are. It really takes no effort to be you when you are comfortable with who you are.

Let me insert this caveat: Yes, ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ marketing works for some people. I've seen it work extremely well for some people...because they believe in the game.

Note what I said: THEY BELIEVE IN THE GAME.

As I mentioned, we create our own reality, so if you can line up with a belief it’s going to work for you.

So you can absolutely line up with the belief that you don’t have to play the game … and you can command the success you dream of.
